A few extra minutes or an awkward task can look trivial at one device. Multiplied across a long trap line, every check and every season, it becomes labour, fatigue, missed servicing and volunteer drop-off.
Weight travels the whole line
People may carry multiple devices, bait and tools over steep, wet or remote terrain. Every unnecessary kilogram matters.
Status should be visible
Operators should not need to peer into every enclosure to learn whether a trap has activated. Clear capture indication can make checking more efficient.

The K1 began with the whole trapping task: how a device is carried, recognised, set, checked, cleared, cleaned and used repeatedly by real people.
