THE REWILD K1 KILL TRAP

A practical physical product designed around the realities of conservation teams, volunteers, trap lines and funded programmes.

SEE IT. ASSESS IT. PLAN THE NEXT STEP.

A hands-on demonstration gives field and technical teams the opportunity to assess the K1 in context before making a wider programme decision.

BUILT FOR FIELD USE

A practical physical product designed around the realities of trap lines, transport, setting and servicing.

SIMPLE SETTING

The K1 is designed to reduce dependence on separate setting tools and brute strength.

VISIBLE CAPTURE FLAG

A clear visual indicator helps field teams see trap status before reaching the unit.

AOTEAROA-MADE

Designed and manufactured in Aotearoa New Zealand, with the needs of conservation teams in mind.

PRE-RELEASE PRODUCT PREVIEW

Predator control made easier.

The Rewild K1 Kill Trap is a powerful, compact trap designed around the complete field task—not just the strike. It is light to carry, simple to set, clear to check and made for repeated use by professional teams and community conservation programmes.

WHY THE K1 IS DIFFERENT

Less carrying. Less wrestling. Less guesswork.

Field research shows that weight, intimidating mechanisms, hidden trap status and awkward servicing all add cost and exclude people. The K1 addresses those frictions directly.

Rewild K1 Kill Trap features, removable entrance, bait well and capture flag
Only 3.7 kg

A compact unit designed to lighten the load when equipment must be carried along long or difficult trap lines.

Set it with the lid

The lid is the setting mechanism. No separate setting tool is required and the mechanism is safe while the trap is open.

Active safety

An integrated safety mechanism supports a clear, repeatable process for operators with different strength and experience.

See captures sooner

A bright capture flag rises when the trap activates, making status easier to recognise from a track or vehicle.

Open it up

The entrance and bait well are removable to support clearing, rebaiting and access for cleaning.

Made for wet work

Durable plastic and stainless-steel construction avoids a separate wooden box and can be cleaned between sites.

FIELD DESIGN IN ACTION

See the features behind the K1.

This full feature film demonstrates the earlier-generation Rewild F-Bomb and the practical design principles carried into K1 development: integrated lift-to-set operation, visible status, service access and a complete field-ready enclosure.

Temporary design-heritage film — dedicated K1 footage will replace this before launch.

DESIGNED AROUND EVERY VISIT

Minutes saved at one trap become hours across a network.

Conservation teams do not operate one trap once. They revisit whole networks through mud, rain, bush, farmland and public reserves. K1 design decisions focus on the tasks repeated at every device.

Carry

Compact and light enough for multiple units to be transported without a pile of setting tools and boxes.

Set

Use the lid to set the mechanism with less intimidation and no separate tool.

Check

Look for the raised capture flag before approaching and opening the trap.

Clear + clean

Remove the entrance and bait well for better access, easier clearing and site hygiene.

CURRENT K1 SPECIFICATION

Purposeful features—not field-added fixes.

The K1 is supplied as an integrated trapping device. Its core operating, safety and status features are built into the product rather than improvised after deployment.

3.7 kg

Complete field unit

Lightweight plastic and stainless-steel construction with included ground anchors.

100 g

Factory-set trigger

Adjustable trigger supplied at the current factory setting; confirm the appropriate configuration for your target and site.

5,000+

Factory cycle testing

The mechanism has been factory tested over more than 5,000 operating cycles.

3 years

Product warranty

Backed by a three-year warranty and New Zealand-based product support.

PERFORMANCE + ASSURANCE

Built for humane, responsible control.

A kill trap earns trust through consistent operation, appropriate target use and clear safeguards. Rewild makes the current testing and deployment information available to programme and technical teams.

Target species

NAWAC test passes

The applicable Rewild trap configuration has recorded NAWAC testing passes for ferrets, stoats, Norway rats, ship rats and hedgehogs as New Zealand target species. Ask Rewild to confirm the exact model and configuration.

Public conservation land

DOC-listed use

Rewild can provide the current information relevant to use on public conservation land, alongside the operating, placement and site-specific requirements that apply.

Programme evaluation

Demonstrate before scale

Put the K1 in the hands of operators and technical advisers. Review setting, checking, clearing, cleaning, target fit, non-target controls and field-trial needs together.

Technical note: a NAWAC test pass is not a blanket product “approval”. Testing is species- and configuration-specific. Rewild will identify the current applicable model, evidence and operating requirements.

BORN FROM NEW ZEALAND FIELD WORK

Design is not decoration. It changes who can do the work.

The K1 traces back to a user-centred design question: how could a mustelid trap work better for the people viewing, carrying, setting, clearing and maintaining it? That work identified usability, operator safety, capture indication, portability, cleaning, non-target exclusion and consistent operation as core design criteria—not optional extras.

Local design + manufactureDeveloped and made in Aotearoa New Zealand with feedback kept close to the product team.
Programme-scale thinkingDesigned for the repeated workload across a trap network and the people needed to sustain it.
